HoloTab: A Browser Extension That Actually Uses the Web Like a Human Would

HCompany just dropped HoloTab, and I have to say, this is one of those rare releases where the demo actually matches the hype. It’s a Chrome extension that turns your browser into an AI agent, no setup required.

They’ve been building toward this for a while. On March 31st they released Holo3, which they claim is one of the most powerful computer-use models out there. But a powerful model locked behind an API is only useful to developers. HoloTab is the thing that makes it useful to everyone else.

You install the extension, type what you want done, and it just… does it. Navigates sites, fills forms, clicks buttons, makes decisions. The vision models and action planning all run in the background. You only see the result. No API keys, no Python scripts, no “please install these dependencies.”

Routines: The Feature That Actually Matters

Quick tasks are fine, but the real time sink is repetitive multi-step workflows. Cross-referencing competitor prices across twenty e-commerce tabs to update a spreadsheet. Scraping job boards and career pages to track applications. The kind of thing that eats an afternoon and makes you question your life choices.

HoloTab’s routines handle this. You start recording, then walk through the task once, clicking and narrating as you go. The extension captures your screen and actions, building context about what you’re doing and why. When you stop recording, you have a reusable routine you can run on demand or schedule.

This approach has been tried before, but usually it falls apart because the recording lacks context. HoloTab seems to actually understand the goal, not just replay clicks. If it works as advertised, this is genuinely useful.

No Technical Background Required

This is the part I appreciate most. Computer-use AI has been getting better fast, but most of the conversation has been about benchmarks and model architectures. The assumption was always that you’d need an engineer to wire it up. HCompany is betting that assumption is wrong.

HoloTab is free, available right now in the Chrome Web Store. No waitlist, no beta invite, no enterprise sales call. You just install it and go.

Will it handle every edge case perfectly? Probably not. No agent does yet. But the direction is right. Making powerful AI accessible without requiring technical skills is how this technology actually changes how people work.

I’ve been testing it for a few days now, and the routine feature alone has already saved me from manually updating a pricing spreadsheet. That’s the kind of concrete win that makes me pay attention.
